BRIEFING
The walk starts at 11:00 a.m. on Constitución Street, heading out of the village towards Villabuena along Sancinos Street and continuing onto the agricultural track of the same name.
We will continue towards Villabuena through a beautiful landscape of rolling hills and vineyards. After 900 metres, we will pass the ruins of the San Roque Hermitage, where a viewpoint offers the chance to enjoy unforgettable views of the surrounding countryside.
At kilometre 1.3, we will reach the Villabuena road, but continue along the track, turning left and then right to follow a steady descent towards Villabuena.
At kilometre 2.65, we will leave the track to visit Bideona, the first winery on the route, where we will enjoy our first wine tasting alongside spectacular views of the surrounding landscape and the Sierra de Cantabria mountain range. We will leave the winery via the same entrance, taking a path around the building before turning left to begin our return towards Samaniego along the paved San Torcuato road, with a continuous climb of almost 2 kilometres.
At kilometre 5.6, we will re-enter Samaniego, winding through Murriarte, El Cercado and El Ochavo streets before crossing the A-124 road to reach the northern part of the village. We will walk along La Paul Street towards the Sierra de Cantabria, then turn left onto an agricultural track leading to Carrera Street. From there, we will make our way through the vineyards to Bello Berganzo winery for our second wine tasting.
Leaving Bello Berganzo winery, we will head north along the Buencerrada track, once again towards the mountains. We will walk through the vineyards before returning towards Samaniego along the Matarredo track, which leads into the village's historic winery district. We will wind through its streets to reach Ostatu, the third winery on the route.
After leaving the winery, we will cross the A-124 road and head towards Constitución Street, near the football pitch, where the walk will finish and the Wine and Gastronomy Fair will begin.
