Briefing 20K Race – Wine Run 2022
Briefing Carrera 20K20K race (18,3 km)
The race has two distinct parts. The first 10 km, which is the ascent and descent to San Ginés from Labastida, and the second 10 km, which is a slight descent towards the Ebro and back to Labastida. The first part is harder and the road surface is dirt, and the second part is asphalt and dirt road. The second 10 km are much faster. It is advisable to save your strength at the beginning and push hard in the second section to complete a circuit with 426 metres of accumulated height gain.
The first 9 km are the same as those of the 10 km race.
At km 9.5 is the second refreshment point. In this case, solids and isotonic drinks.
We continue on a tarmac road with a continuous descent until km 13.8. The hilly terrain has some undulations, especially in the 600 metres between km 10.10 and 10.70.
At km 13.8 we reach the height of the Ebro and the lowest point of the route. The path is dirt, but very even. Here we will find the third refreshment point. You will find water and isotonic drinks. We turn left, separating ourselves from the river.
Then, we advance next to the river on a false plain that begins to ascend.
At km 15.3, after a short descent, we return to the river. We will walk along the riverbank for a kilometre, enjoying another of the most beautiful spots on the route.
At km 16.1 we leave the road to return to the asphalt again and face a fairly intense 1 km climb. The route then continues to gain altitude gently, turning at the Finca de la Rica winery (km 17.90) to reach the finish line in Labastida.
